The Reversion

The «Reversion»

The reversion is one instance where some assets are kept by law separate from the deceased’s estate.

This happens with assets that are past by way of gift from ascendants ( eg. parents) to descendants (eg. children)

The ascendants inherit, to the exclusion of all others, the assets given by them to their children that subsequently die without their own descendency, whether or not they have made a last will, so it has precedence even in the intestate or legal succession.

The ascendants’ right in the reversion is over the same gifted assets, or their value if they were sold by the deceased, or over the assets that were acquired in exchange by the deceased. .
